Bowgun
When you adept evade, you can change your orientation during the dodge. Just hold the direction you want to dodge to as you hit b, then after hitting b hold the direction on the circlepad you want to face at the end of the dodge. If you're adepting into siege mode, this will save you precious seconds.
krallendertotenGo straight for the Kushala gun (Daora's Delphinidae). It's the best general use Pierce siege gun in the game and generally considered the best gun in the game period. Rathalos armor is completely fine; you'll want to just get the High rank version and G rank versions when they become available to you. After that you'll want the Ahtlal-Ka armor, and then a mixed set tailored to your specific talismans.
Consider using the Meteor Bazooka as an in-between weapon to help you get to the Kushala one; it needs recoil down to use the pierce 2 siege properly but it's pretty easy to gem. Alternatively, the Hidden Gambit is a bit stronger but it's harder to get
Little tip: the guns I listed here have Slicing shots as internal ammo; use them to quickly fill your Brave meter by brave-reloading them and using them until it fills. Then switch to siege spam.
KetheresHidden Gambit has recoil of Some. This allows it to use all levels of pierce with minimal delay ('Average' would be enough for pierce 1, pierce 2 and 3 require 'Some')
asstalosOther HBGs you will look for in end-game are the Zinogre HBG (siege Para 2, 2 slots) and the Diablos HBG (requires RD+1 to enable sieging P1s and P2s, and has N2 seige as well). Could consider building these in the lead-up to end-game.
StarboardHunterFor HBG, you have your choice of two main guns, with a third situational one. Daora's Ceti from Kushala Daora, and the Orcus Quarcus from Hyper Zinorge. Both these guns seige Pierce one at its lowest recoil, and come with slicing internals to easily fill your brave gauge. Orcus has 10 less raw than Daora, but makes up for it with an extra slot if your build needs it. Plus it looks way cooler (which is worth the 10 raw by itself). The situational gun is the Diablastazooka, which is Diablos' gun. You use it for monsters with higher HP pools or on multi monster quests, since with recoil +1 it can siege Pierce 1 and 2. Other guns are usable, but those are the most common three.
Skill choices are pretty easy. You want Pierce up for the damage boost, Critical Eye +2/3 and either Weakness Exploit or Repeat Offender to push your affinity up, and Critical Boost to make that extra affinity even better. Shot Booster is a great skill to use, since it keeps you in crit distance longer and means you have to reposition less, but if you have to drop a skill, its the first one on the chopping block. As mentioned, Diablos needs Recoil +1 to function at its best.
Personal Rant Incoming
I don't like Neset Armor as a HBG. Yes, it's a fantastic set of armor. But without an amazing charm, it's less useful. I have a set using a Tenderizer +5 000, and I can get CE +2, WE, CB, Pierce up, and shot booster. Using Neset, I would need something absurd like a Pierce up +4 Expert +7 000 to do that. Yes, the extra defense is nice, but the requirement to get it can seem a bit excessive.
/rant
Anyways. Hope this helps, and it's always nice to see another Bowgunner out and about!
unknown, different threadThe Gore HBG will serve you well for a while. It's ability to siege pierce 2 and normal 2 is something a lot of bowguns can't do.
asstalosCore skills:
- Pierce Up
- Shot Booster
Additional Damage:
- Weakness Exploit
- Repeat Offender
- Critical Boost
- Crit Eye +2/3
Other damage skills:
- Attack up Small/Medium/Large
- Challenger +2
Utility:
- Ammo Saver
Pick Core, and your preference of Crit-focused skills depending on what your charms permit and what your monster target is (pointless to bring WE against a monster without a >45 shot hitzone, for example).
Charge Blade
busy_killerIn addition to the ones that have already been suggested I'll point out some honorable mentions:
- Fatalis Charger: 340 raw, 20 Dragon OOO and reaches purple with Handicraft +1. Good, well rounded weapon.
- Authority Teleblade: 300 raw, 25% Affinity OOO and long natural purple Sharpness. Perfect for a Crit Boost build. Grimclaw Biter is also a good alternative if you're looking to charge HA faster.
- Rustrazor Slasher: 330 raw, 5% Affinity. Super long white. Very flexible weapon, charges HA faster and fits in many builds as you don't need to use Handicraft or Razor Sharp as long as you're ok with fighting in white sharpness.
- Friede/Désastre because it looks amazing. Fatalis Charger is superior though.
- And as a final mention, some good elemental weapons if you are into that: Dear Lutemineva, Magnastar Tobah, Squaliarmada.

Mh4u Hbg Affinity Or Dmg List
HBG damage is based on his Siege ammo. Siege increases your fire rate. But locks you into a crouch animation until you roll.
The most used ammo types are Pierce1 and Normal2 because of the damage and recoil they have.
There's a lot of people that says that Pierce2 ammo is good, but in Gen and GenUlt thats a big lie.
Pierce2 ammo damage is only some 7x4 (28) and Pierce1 is 9x3 (27), only one MV of difference, and Pierce1 doesnt require Recoil+n skills, also, with Pierce2 is easier to hit a bad spot.
Normal2 bullets are used for monsters that have small weakspots, like Yian Garuga, Rathalos, Deviant Mizutsune, etc.
Their hitzones are small and their other weakspots are really small, so its more convenient to focus on the small spot with this ammo.
In really, reaaally, reaaaaaally short hunts you can use Slice2 ammo with either Adept or Brave mode. But I would recommend you to only use adept in this case because in the time you fill your brave gauge, the monster would be almost dead, so its better to start with a siege mode rather than filling your brave gauge.

Styles
In Mhgen the best style for HBG is Adept. Adept changes a little bit your Siege roll mode, every time you roll in Siege mode you do a really short roll.
Also, in Siege mode, you can roll to any direction that you want, even backwards.
Every time you do an adept evade, your character would reload the current ammo that you're using and also gives you a 5% boost of damage (with a blue mark in your bullets).
Your main Damage
HBG is focused in Siege mode. Meaning that the best guns are the ones with the best damage and with what they Siege.
Office 2019 activation code free. If you enter in Siege mode, the only things you can do are either roll out of it, or Shoot.
In Siege mode, your shots will be a little bit faster than with normal shots. So if you enter in Siege mode, try to be really aggresive.
Sets
In MHGen the best sets are based on Normal2 and Pierce1 ammo. But in long hunts you can use Pierce2 and 3 to have more damage or in short cases AmmoSaver.
Here im going to show the best sets or the ones used more frequently in Time Attacks.
Set 1.-
DaoraHBG
SilverSolVest
AkantorGauntlets R
LodestarCloak
AkantorBoots R
Tali: Tenderizer 4 000
Skills:
WeaknessExploit
CriticalUp
PierceUp
ShotBooster
This set is used for monster thar have a weakspot large enough for the entire Pierce1 volley to hit it. Like Glavenus back or Deviljhos belly. Easily one of the strongest sets for HBG.

StorgeCoat R
AkantorBoots R
Tali: PierceUp3 000
Skills:
CriticalEye2
PeakPerfomance
PierceUp

This set is used for monsters without a .45 hitzone like Astalos or some Deviants.

Set 3.-
DaoraHBG
RathalosCap R
RathalosChest S
AkantorGauntlest R
GlavenusCoat S
AkantorBoots R
Tali: Recoil5 000
Skills:
RecoilDown +1
PierceUp
ShotBooster
Weakness Exploit
This set has a special thing, this one is for large hunts like multi monsters quests. But this one is used if the monsters have a large +.45hitzone because you also use Pierce2-3ammo thanks to RecoilDown+1
~∆~∆~∆~∆~∆~∆~∆~∆~∆~∆~∆~∆~∆~
Set 4.-
HayabusaFeather
StorgeGuards EX
HermitaurCoat R
AkantorBoots R
Tali: PierceUp5 000
Skills:
PierceUp
RecoilDown +1
Expert +3
ShotBooster
A set used for long hunts, this one is more viable than the third set because its hard to hit a .45 with Pierce3, and with this set you don't need to worry if the monster has bad hitzones. This one is also used for some Deviants quests because most of them have -.44Hitzones.

Styles
In GU HBG received a big buff thanks to a new style included called Brave/Valor.
Valor mode gives you a lot of new things. Like a 5% buff of damage when you brave reload, marked with a red mark in your bullets
Also, in brave mode your fire rate in Siege mode increases really fast, making you able to be more aggresive and deal more damage in this mode.
Also, in Brave mode your rolls obtain Evasion+2 (not really helpfull, but is something).
Sets
In GenU there're a lot of HBGs to choose, like ZinogreHBG, DaoraHBG, DiablosHBG, AkantorHBG, etc.
Pierce is the king and Normal2 follows him. But elemental ammo also works (In some situational monsters..).

Summary and tips
Use Slice shots and brave reloads to fill your brave gauge, this is the fastest form to do it and this would give you more time to attack.
Do not fire the final bullet of the siege mode in Brave, this shot has a lot of recoil and is better to roll out of it in the second final bullet and siege again.
AbsoluteReadiness is not really usefull like in Gen, because Brave HBG has a lot of mobility. So its better to use Mass Combiner as your main HunterArt.
In Gen the best HBG is the AkantorHBG. Idk why everyone thinks that the ShagaruHBG is the most powerful one. AkantorHBG has +10% than Shagaru one but with no slots, so its a little bit hard to make a good set because you need a really good tali to make a set with AuM, WE, CB, Nup
